Friday was Andrew’s grandmother’s 87th birthday, and we thought she deserved a special hand crafted gift from us. Since we bought all of the materials for the ladder planter box, but did not make all five boxes, we had an extra cedar fence post. Again, I found the plans on Ana White’s blog for a cedar planter box.
First, we followed Ana’s plans to build the box.
Next, Andrew used Rustoleum Wood Stain in dark walnut to stain the planter.
We personalized the box by painting “Bev’s Garden” with Rustoleum enamel in white.
We did not have the metal strapping that Ana used, so we braided rope left over from one of our wedding DIYs.
The braids are 18″ in length and knotted at both ends.
The last step was to arrange the plants and fill the planter with dirt!
